Some of you who are close to me or even those who have spoken to me in the last few months know of my money situation right now. Due to lack of familial support (I have no one that can bail me out for good) and lack of support from funding bodies for masters students, I’m super close to being legitimately bankrupt.
Yeah… its not great.
I’m disabled, so I can’t work and study at the same time, and I certainly can’t work any physical jobs because I’ll get ill and then won’t be able to work or do uni. I’ve applied for all the help I can get through my university but due to me being a masters student, there’s limited help for me. I’ve applied for grants, I’ve gone to support funds, I’ve applied for benefits due to my disability, but I’ve been either turned away or the support has been minimal. (The extenuating circumstances fund for masters students is limited to £1000 whereas undergrad students can get up to £3500, but they don’t have to pay tuition fees!) I received my student support fund payment so my rent and tuition fees are paid off until I move out on July 18th, but that leaves me very little to survive on in the meantime. I have shelter sorted, but I need money for food and potentially to go stay with someone who can support me more thoroughly while I’m (hopefully) working.
I know this is the third time to make a post like this, but I wouldn’t make it if I wasn’t in dire need. I actually managed to give myself carpal tunnel from working too hard at uni, so I’ve had to defer some of my modules to January deadlines, and I’m applying for jobs I can do from home with minimal typing etc:. in the mean time to support myself, but its difficult when all the commissions I COULD be doing would potentially cause me permanent damage in my arms.
I have a paypal, and if anyone could spare even £1, that could mean a huge difference to me. I hate taking handouts, but I need any bit of help I can get. If you can’t afford to help, sharing the post can help just as much.
